Charmaine Warren
Charmaine Warren is the founder/producer/artistic director of "Black Dance Stories," Dance on the Lawn:" Montclair's Dance Festival, producer of DanceAfrica at BAM, co-curator for Harlem Stage/EMoves, and Dance Director/Wassaic Project. She writes on dance for The New York Amsterdam News, The New York Times, Dance Magazine, and Kennedy Center's CENTER Magazine. In 2017, Charmaine was the Bessie Award Recipient for "Outstanding Performance" as a member of Skeleton Architecture Collective, and a 2021 "Angel Awardee." She was a faculty member at Hunter College, The Ailey School, the Alvin Ailey/Fordham University, Sarah Lawrence College, Kean University, and Empire State College, lecturing on Western, Jamaican and Black dance. Charmaine holds a Ph.D. from Howard University, a Master’s Degree from CUNY, and a Bachelor’s Degree from Montclair State College. She performed with david rousseve/REALITY, and now performs with Jasmine Hearn. Charmaine was a previous member of the New York Dance and Performance Awards Committee.
